Every contact is either an **Individual** or an **Organization**. The type decides which name FundHero shows first and which fields are required.

## Individual

- **First name** and **Last Name** are required.
- **Organization** is optional and describes where the person works.
- **Home Number** and **Work Number** are available.
- In the contacts list the **Name** column shows "First Last". On the detail page the heading is the person's name, with their **Position** and organization underneath (for example "Treasurer, Riverside Rotary").

## Organization

- **Organization** is required and becomes the main name.
- **First name**, **Last Name** and **Position** are still on the form. Use them for your main point of contact.
- The phone field is labelled **Phone Number** instead of **Work Number**, and there is no **Home Number**.
- In the contacts list the **Name** column shows the organization name. The detail page heading shows the organization name too.

## Change a contact's type

1. Open **Contacts** and select the contact.
2. Select **Edit**.
3. Change **Select Type** to **Individual** or **Organization**.
4. Select **Save**.

Fill in the field the new type requires. For example, switching to **Organization** needs an organization name.

## Set the type when importing

The contact import has a **Contact Type** column you can map. See [Import contacts](https://www.fundhero.com/help/import-contacts/).

You can also filter your list by type with **Filters** > **Contact Details** > **Type**, which has **Individual**, **Organization** and **None** options.
