Donor status records where a contact is in your fundraising pipeline, and ask amount records how much you intend to ask them for. You set both on the contact’s detail page, or in bulk from the contacts list.
Donor statuses
There are eight statuses, in pipeline order:
- Prospect
- Attempted Contact
- Cultivation
- Ready for Ask
- Soft Pledge
- Hard Pledge
- Donor
- Decline
A contact with no status set shows as None in the Filters panel.
Set a status for one contact
- Open Contacts and select the contact.
- On the Donor Status card, open the dropdown and choose a status.
Set a status for many contacts
- Tick the contacts in the list.
- In the bulk bar, open Donor Status and choose an entry such as Assign Cultivation.
- The Donor Status window asks "Are you sure you want to update the status of N contacts?" and shows the new status. Select Confirm.
The status shows in the Donor Status column of the list, and you can filter by it under Filters > Donor Status. See Search and filter contacts.
Ask amount
Ask amount is a dollar figure you store on the contact. It is separate from what the contact has actually given.
- On the detail page: open the Ask Amount card and pick one of the preset amounts, or type your own in Custom Amount. The preset list is $0, $100, $250, $500 and $1000 unless your team has set a fundraising goal. If it has, the list shows the ask-amount tiers from that goal instead.
- In the contact form: Add Contact and Edit have an Ask Amount field.
- In imports: map a CSV column to Ask Amount. See Import contacts.
- In the list: the Ask Amount column can be shown, hidden and moved with Rearrange Columns.
- In filters: Filters > Ask Amount takes a range.
Totals on the detail page
The third card on a contact shows giving totals. Open its dropdown to switch between Total Donations, This Year and Last Year, so you can compare what they have given with the ask amount.
