Add a contact with Contacts > Add Contact, change one with Edit on their detail page, and delete contacts from the bulk More Actions menu. Anyone who gives through one of your donation pages is added to your contacts automatically.
Add a contact
- Open Contacts in the main navigation.
- Select Add Contact.
- Under "What type of contact is this?", choose Individual or Organization in the Select Type list. The rest of the form appears once you pick a type. See Individuals vs. organizations for how the choice changes the form.
- Fill in the details you have. The form includes:
- Organization (required for an organization), First name, Last Name and Position
- Mobile Number, Home Number (individuals only) and Work Number (labelled Phone Number for organizations)
- Email and Alt. Email
- Ask Amount
- Notes
- Address, Address 2, City, State and Postal Code
- Any custom fields your team has set up
- Select Save. The button stays disabled until the required fields are filled in.
If you open Add Contact while viewing a group (Contacts dropdown > Groups > View Group), the new contact is added to that group as well.
To add many people at once, use Import contacts.
Edit a contact
- Open Contacts and select the contact in the list. Their detail page opens next to the list.
- Select Edit.
- Change the details and select Save.
The detail page also lets you change Ask Amount and Donor Status directly from their cards, and add or remove group pills. See Donor status and ask amount.
Delete contacts
The detail page has no delete button. Delete from the list instead:
- In the contacts list, tick the checkbox next to each contact you want to remove.
- In the bar that appears, open More Actions and select Delete Contacts.
- Confirm the prompt "Are you sure you want to delete N contacts?" with Confirm.
To delete everything that matches a search or filter, tick the checkbox in the header row, then select "Select all N contacts that match" before opening More Actions.
The confirmation does not mention an undo, so treat deletion as permanent. If you only need to combine two records, use Merge contacts instead.
