Send an email to a contact

Write or pick a template for a donor email and send it from your own email app, with a copy logged on their timeline.

Updated

Select Send Email on a contact, pick a template or write your own message, and select Send. FundHero opens your own email app with the message ready to go and logs the email on the contact’s timeline.

Send an email

  1. Open Contacts and select the contact.
  2. Select Add Interaction, then Send Email.
  3. Optional: in Select Type, choose a template. The list shows the Fundhero templates first, then your team’s templates. The subject and body fill in, and {firstname} becomes the contact’s first name. {donatelink} becomes your team’s donation link, in the form https://secure.fundhero.com/<team>.
  4. Check the Subject and edit the message in the box labelled "Begin typing or select a template to start".
  5. Select Send.

The Email box starts with the contact’s email address. The message is addressed to the email saved on the contact record, so to write to a different address, change it in your email app or update the contact first. Select New Template to go to the Templates page instead and write a new one (new templates aren’t available on Basic). See Create or edit a template.

What Send does

Send does two things:

  • It adds a "sent an email" item to the contact’s timeline, with the subject and message.
  • It opens a mailto: link in a new browser tab. Your computer or browser hands that link to whichever email app is set as your default, with the subject and body filled in. You then press send in that app.

FundHero doesn’t send the email itself, so messages come from your own account. The email is logged on the timeline as soon as you select Send, whether or not you send it in your email app.

If the wrong app opens, see Choose which email app opens.

Mass email

FundHero’s email composer works one contact at a time. For mass email, use the Mailchimp integration. See Mailchimp.
